| They're called video tapes |
[Sep. 28th, 2009|01:37 am] |
What the hell is VHS? They're called video tapes. Or just tape or sometimes even just video. Ever since their decline in this shithole of a millennium, people think it's casual to refer to them as VHS tapes now.
Tell me, who would say "Hey want to watch Maximum Overdrive? I got it on VHS if you want to see it" back in the 80's and 90's? No one would because everyone just said tape because that's what they are. Saying VHS doesn't even make sense because VHS stands for "Video Home System". Now lets use the full meaning in that example again: "Hey want to watch Maximum Overdrive? I got it on Video Home System." It sounds god damned retarded.
To all you millennium whores, you don't sound cool and more intelligent when you say VHS. You sound like a prick that deserves to have their new age, rectangular eyeglasses smashed in while wearing them. They're called video tapes; always have been and always should. |

| I'm not dead and I present a contest |
[Aug. 20th, 2007|11:52 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | pissed off | ] | So I just now decided to post a new entry and yes, I am still PISSED OFF. With my new post, I present a contest to all two of you that check out my Live Journal:
Where does my Live Journal avatar come from?
It's a pretty cool avatar, eh? I don't know what the prize will be yet, but there will be a prize even if it has to be something as crappy as a MS Paint drawing. Perhaps if I'm willing, I will give out a game from my collection. Of course you can only imagine how sweet of a game that would be.
There is no set ending date for this contest as I probably won't even look at this Live Journal for another year and five months, so whoever answers correctly first wins. Drop the answer in the comment section to prove it; I think it will notify me in my email.
Good luck. |

| Rest in Piece, my long, beautiful, hair... |
[Oct. 13th, 2005|09:40 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | depressed | ] | My hair has finally been cut and it had to be done in order for me to get hired at a grocery store. I will miss those long, beautiful, wavey, golden-brown locks that used to lay under my hat and on my head. At least now people won't get me confused with Robert Plant. Still, that was my hair... |

| PCE 512x448 resolution is true! |
[Oct. 6th, 2005|04:55 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | pissed off | ] | As a follow up to the giant squid capture, it's now also been true that the rumor of the Turbo Grafx 16/PC Engine being able to handle a resolution as high as 512x448 is true! Check out the ROM demo here. This demo was made by the talented Charles MacDonald .
A description by Charles:
";---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ; Software interlacing example program ; by Charles MacDonald ; WWW: http://cgfm2.emuviews.com ; ; Shows a 2-color image with an percieved resolution of 512x448. ; ; RUN toggles using 262 or 263 line frames on even or odd frames. ; SELECT toggles bit 0 of the VCE DCC register. (affects screen distortion for 10MHz dot clock) ; Left/Right cycle through the various images. ; ; Thanks to Chris Covell for his images of the various NEC logos: ; http://www.zyx.com/chrisc/ ; ; ; Bit 2 of $0400 selects the number of scanlines shown per frame, where 0=262, ; 1=263 lines. Changing this bit each frame causes a small amount of vertical ; displacement between the two frames, so they do not directly overlap. ; The amount of displacement is different depending on where you make the ; change, I've found using scanline $E6 puts the odd frame close to being ; centered between the gaps of the scanlines from the even frame. This gives ; the appearance of an interlaced display, but I doubt it is 100% compatible ; with the NTSC standard definition of how interlaced screens are supposed ; to be. ; ; I use a 512x224 display which appears to be 512x448. The high horizontal ; resolution is used to keep the aspect ratio and resulting pixel size ; correct. I use the background CG mode feature, where the VDC will read ; out the contents of bitplanes 0,1 or 2,3 and assume the other bitplanes ; are zero. This results in a single tile being able to store two 4-color ; images (pixel values 0,1,2,3 or 0,4,8,C) By changing the CG mode bit on ; each frame, I can have a unique image for the even and odd interlaced ; frames. ; ; There is a noticble artifacting effect when using a 262-line frame, and ; this cannot be avoided. Many games use the 263-line mode and look fine, ; but some such as Turrican and Strider (ACD) do not and have a lot of ; visible blurring between pixels. In this case, it's one of the trade-offs ; of doubling the vertical resolution. ; ;----------------------------------------------------------------------------"

| Was Alan Alda born to be the funniest person? |
[Sep. 23rd, 2005|06:05 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | pissed off | ] | Alan Alda (Famous for playing "Hawkeye Pierce" in the M*A*S*H* series) is an unnatural funny person, well at least in MASH. The guy can think of a joke in less than .00000003 seconds and tells it without laughing and makes it out of anything. Could these be super human powers? Judging from how fast he thinks of them and how clearly they come out, I don't think they are even pre-written for the MASH episodes! How is it possible?

Although that's nothing, even though it's pretty cool by itself. But check these ones out from another guy (possibly another Canadian since they are friends):

Probably the coolest tattoos I've ever seen. Although I hope this doesn't encouragement to get J.J. and Jeff tattoos...
